Careers

If you are looking for the best career oriented EMS environment around, Muskogee County EMS is a service like no other.

Established in 1981, Muskogee County EMS has a long standing history of respected partnership and service in the community, enjoying the full support of local government and elected officials.

Most medics work 12-hour shifts at a premium pay. Depending on the shift and applicable experience EMTs start at $41k/yr to potentially $51K/yr, and Paramedics start from $56K/yr to $70K/yr. All of the premium shifts have built-in raises in the first 5 years. Our patient care staff enjoy the benefits of modern and well maintained ambulances and patient care equipment geared toward employee satisfaction and high quality patient care.

For the EMS professional, MCEMS offers an unparalleled set of benefits, either meeting or subsidizing nearly all of the employee’s needs; Uniforms, gym benefits, PTO, life insurance, health insurance, dental/vision coverage, all CEU’s, refresher and education training. Employees are enrolled in OPERS, a state defined-benefit pension retirement. Licensed medics who are hired after November 1st, 2024 are now enrolled in the 20-year hazardous duty category of OPERS.

More than 40% of our 130 employee workforce has 10+ years of tenure and over 11% have greater than 20 years of service, with some more than 30 years. In its 40 year history, only 3 different executive directors have led the agency.

Each station is set up to be your “home away from home” with cable TV’s, bedrooms, full kitchen, living areas and bathrooms with shower. Each station has it’s own back-up generator.

Every MCEMS station has free WiFi and a computer with internet access.   In your down time you can use the computer to surf the web or keep up your CEU’s on EMS1 Academy.  EMS1 Academy is free to all employees and available wherever  you have web access.

To keep our medics up to date, all  skills refreshers and CEU’s are offered in-house through company wide training.
