With Deepest gratitude,
I am writing to express my sincere gratitude to the Muskogee County EMS employees who assisted my husband and me on Saturday evening.
I had to call for an ambulance to transport my husband to the hospital, and although I regret not getting the names of the gentlemen who helped us, I will never forget their professionalism, compassion, and quick response. From the moment they arrived, they acted swiftly in assessing my husband’s condition and getting him safely to the hospital. Throughout the entire process, they communicated clearly with me, explaining what was happening and took a moment to remind me to wear my seatbelt and drive carefully while following them to the hospital, which meant a great deal to me.
Once we arrived at the hospital, they continued to show kindness and patience by explaining the process, what the doctors would be doing, and where I could wait to be called back. After my husband was evaluated, it was determined that he required a higher level of care, and another EMS crew was called to transport him to Tulsa. That crew also responded quickly and ensured he was transferred without delay.
Shortly after arriving in Tulsa, my husband suffered a major medical emergency, and we were unsure if he would survive. Because of the quick actions, readiness, and timely transport by your EMS teams, I truly believe their efforts may have helped save his life. For that, I am forever grateful.
I have only had to call for an ambulance twice in my life, but both times Muskogee County EMS treated us with exceptional care, compassion, and professionalism. This experience had such a powerful impact that my daughter – who had been considering becoming an EMT after she graduates in 2026 – made the firm decision to pursue that path after watching your crews in action.
Thank you all for what you do every day. Your dedication does not go unnoticed, and it truly makes a difference.
The medics were Paramedic Matt Gardenhire, EMT Ryan Capps, Paramedic Larry Osburn, EMT Michelle Tooman, and dispatcher Jaylynn Dean.

Muskogee County EMS Dispatchers Achieve ACE Re-Accreditation Through 2028
Muskogee County EMS is proud to announce that its Communications Center has successfully earned re-accreditation as an Accredited Center of Excellence (ACE) from the International Academies of Emergency Dispatch® (IAED™) for the years 2025–2028. This recognition continues a legacy that began in 2000, when Muskogee County EMS first became accredited, and acknowledges 25 years of unwavering dedication to excellence in emergency dispatching.
The IAED is the worldwide standard-setting organization for emergency dispatch and the body responsible for maintaining the Priority Dispatch System, which is used in over 3,500 emergency communication centers across 46 countries. Accreditation is the highest distinction awarded by the IAED, given only to agencies that meet or exceed the rigorous standards of the profession through strong quality oversight, continuous improvement, and a commitment to serving their communities.
“Accreditation is truly a pinnacle achievement,” said Christof Chwojka, Accreditation Board Chair at IAED. “We applaud the dedicated calltakers, dispatchers, and leadership team at Muskogee County EMS for their commitment to quality, and for meeting that high standard that few achieve. We know their community can count on these first, first responders to do an outstanding job.”
Earning ACE status is no small task. The re-accreditation process is extensive, requiring agencies to complete the 20 Points of Accreditation, undergo detailed evaluations by industry experts, and pass a final review by IAED. Accreditation is valid for three years, and accredited centers must maintain those strict standards for the full duration.
Muskogee County EMS was recognized as the 41st Medical ACE center in the world and remains one of a select group of agencies to hold this distinction. At the 2025 Navigator Conference in Florida, Communications Manager Tara Henry was honored by IAED for leading Muskogee County EMS through the recertification process, further highlighting the dedication of the Communications Center team.
Muskogee County EMS congratulates its entire team of dispatchers and communications staff for their commitment to excellence and their service to the people of Muskogee County. This re-accreditation underscores not only their skill and professionalism but also their determination to provide the very best care through every call received.
